Program 2014

1. 2014/2014 (Sponsor a Child Project)

Many under privileged and financially deprived families live in rural areas of Nepal for whom it is a struggle even to make the ends meet. Education for such people is an asset which is almost unattainable due to poverty and unavailability of resources. We, as a part of Aaroh and conscious Nepali citizens were indeed very much thrilled to connect the urban world with the underprivileged one linking the sponsors to the needy children. This program, that we named “Sponsor a Child Project”, is unique in its function considering the fact it is one of its kinds, and is based on complete transparency and noble functioning. This program initially found its roots among 10 deprived students of “Shree Manohar Higher Secondary School” but has now spread its wings to Dhading covering numerous other districts in the process. Our idea in running this project is based on “saving a penny” where a trivial sum of $150 (NRs. 15,000/-) can provide for yearly tuition fees of the students while also covering the cost of basic itineraries.

2. June 7- 9 (Sunaulo Bhawishya Project- Ramechhap- Phase I)

We conducted the first phase of the Sunaulo Bhawishya Project at Ramechhap with the main motive of research and to improve the educational quality by maintaining a child-friendly environment. Our team efficiently conducted orientation on health and sanitation, various entertaining and interactive games, art competitions, classroom decoration, distribution of stationeries, sports kit, medical kit, library establishment, prize distribution, documentation and household surveys. Indeed, the Sunaulo Bhawishya Project helped bring out the children in us, the Aaroh team and rejoice in the bliss of childhood freedom!

3. October 28 – November 3 (Sunaulo Bhawishya Project- Ramechhap- Phase II)

After the success of the first phase, we, the Aaroh Team were highly motivated to go for the second phase as well, and it seems all the garlands that were awaiting our arrival demonstrated the villagers anticipation as well. The main goal of the PHASE II program was to conduct programs to enhance the teaching capacity of the teachers by training them about the teaching methodology, maintaining ambient environment in school and to create awareness about education in the community. We promoted safe and modern teaching materials, and provided useful skills while advocating in communities for demonstrating their involvement in the betterment of education for the development of village. In this phase activities such as workshop on Child psychology, Basic English & origami, distribution of uniform, toys, stationeries, entertaining and interactive games, infrastructure development and documentation. By this phase, Ramechhap was no longer just a project center, but had become an extended family to Aaroh.

4. December 4 (Nyano Maya Project)

The arrival of heart chilling winter inspired us to share the warmth of care in winter. In several rural districts of Nepal, the weather conditions are extremely harsh; especially in winter. As a result, inadequate winter clothing becomes major lacking factor. Many people have to suffer cold which affects their daily lives. Considering this factor, we warmed our own hearts and the lives of the people by initiating the “Nyano Maya” Project, which literally translates to “warm love” on 4th December 2014 for laborers working in the brick kilns of Bhaktapur, Dekocha. We distributed 300 pairs of winter clothes. The program mainly focused to provide relief to the people suffering from severe cold by the provision of clothes.

Program 2015

1. March 6 – 8 (Research on “Profiling Local Resilience in Nepal: Access to Safe drinking Water as a critical resource for local dwellers in Earthquake Emergencies”)

AAROH worked together as part of the research project of Svend Jonas Schelhorn to carry out a household survey held in Lalitpur district from 6th March till 8th March 2015. The research project was carried out under the supervision of the Department of Geography of Heidelberg University’s South Asia Institute and was funded by the fiat panis foundation. Established in 1887, the South Asia Institute is a research institute aiming to provide research support to its members and visitors in Kathmandu, as well as at the Head Office in Heidelberg, Germany. The main objective of this research was to understand the household preparedness regarding water supply in earthquake emergencies, know the current status of people regarding access to safe drinking water and Spread awareness among the people regarding the water supplies in the earthquake emergencies.

2. March 1 – April 31 (The Calendar Project)

The Calendar Project is a fundraising event conducted by AAROH in 2015. It is a program organized where individual sponsors contributed in the calendar print and 30% of the raised funds were contributed to the underprivileged children of Nepal.

3. April 1- 15 (Sponsor A Child Project)

Following on the footsteps of our first project, we continued the Sponsor a Child Project at Ramechhap with expectations to get similar successful result as in Kathmandu. We sponsored 15 children irrespective of their social and biological standing and also continued our work in Kathmandu. Besides, we assured that the sponsored children and their sponsored parents have constant communication through letters and telephone call.

4. May 1 – May 8 (Earthquake Relief Project- Sindhupalchok)

The mega-earthquake of the 25th April and 12th May 2015 created mighty havoc within and outside the country. Many citizens around the country suffered economically, psychologically, emotionally and physically from the very incident. Rescue, relief and rehabilitation therefore were the prime concern for people around the nation. Thus, recognizing this national tragedy, we, the AAROH Team worked uncomplainingly on providing relief to these earthquake victims. We started our relief campaign in Sindhupalchok district -Sipapokhare V.D.C. where we covered nine wards from 1st may till 8th may 2015. We covered 1045 households i.e. more than 9000 people approximately. We distributed package of tent, food for whole family, medication, dignity package and hygiene essentials, thereby making the lives of the people more bearable.

5. May 19 – May 21 (Earthquake Relief Project- Ramechhap)

The second earthquake on May 12, 2015, brought more devastation and fear in the communities. Among those is, Doramba VDC in Ramechhap District where we started our two beginning projects, “Sunaulo Bhawishya” Phase 1 & 2 for children & women development. Roads to Ramechhap were wrecked and very arduous to even hike but fortunately there was not as much devastation in Doramba area as we had anticipated. Since the schools nationwide were to start, we took executive decision to give the extra tents to schools. We were able to support 8 schools in Ramechhap VDC that allowed the children to build back their excitement to study and help them convalesce. We invited community members and children to come and join us to share lunch and start the difficult conversation on earthquake and restoration of both infrastructures and emotional well being thus helping them physically and psychosocially.

6. May 23 (Earthquake Relief Project- Dhading – Chepang Basti)

We also started work in Dhading; Chepang Basti, Gajuri ward no- 6. Seeing Dhading for ourselves gave us relief and optimism that we will be able to continue our development projects again after the completion of relief. With the very enthusiasm we had demonstration in our earlier feats, we distributed package of tent, food for whole family, medication, dignity package and hygiene essentials to 200 households.

7. May 25 (Earthquake Relief Project – Dhading – Sunar Tole) We continued our admirable work in Bhumethan ward no-4, Sunar Tole, Dhading where we supported 35 households with the package of tent, food for whole family, medication, dignity package and hygiene essentials to 200 households.
8. June 13 – June 15 (Earthquake Relief Project- Dolakha) The earthquake relief project kept pace and we supported Dolakha, V.D.C. Bhirkot for 165 households form 13th June to 15th June 2015. The households received package of food for whole family, medication, dignity and hygiene essentials.
9. June 19 (Research on “Earthquake relief and support of research in disaster risk reduction”) During humanitarian crisis after the sequence of earthquakes in April 2015, we at AAROH mobilized earthquake management skills by supporting researchers of Germany in the “Earthquake Field Investigation Project” during the assessment camps of Bhaktapur Lalitpur, Kathmandu and outside of the valley. The research project was carried out under the supervision of Department of Geography of Heidelberg University South Asia Institute, Germany, the Center of Disaster Management and Risk Reduction Technology (CEDIM) of Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), Germany; and the National Society for Earthquake Technology (NSET). Our research helped the aforementioned institutes to study the mega earthquake and the aftermath in more accurate detail.

10. June 25 (Sunaulo Bhawishya Project – Dhading – Phase I)

The outstanding success of the Sunaulo Bhawishya Project at Ramechhap and our repeated welfare programs during the time of climactic destruction inspired us to expand our working territory. We started our initial project; “Sunaulo Bhawishya” in new area: “Shree Mahakali Primary School”, Aarukharka, Bhumesthan V.D.C.-9, Dhading after the devastating earthquake. The school was not spared by the earthquake destroying and leaving no place for children to go back. The children needed schools even more to bring ease to heal themselves, be around friends and learn in a safer environment. The main goal of Phase I was to improve the educational quality and create a child friendly and safer environment in the school after the earthquake. In the program different activities such as children counseling, introduction and capacity building, games, art competition, IQ games, interviews, prize distribution, documentation and provision of basic educational requirements to the school were conducted.

11. July 4 (Ankur “Food for Good”) Ankur “Food for Good” is a dinner program to raise funds for the rehabilitation of marginalized student of Shree Mahakali Primary School, Bhumesthan-9, Dhading who had been affected by the mega earthquake stroke on 25th April & 12th May 2015. The event was organized successfully by us with the collaboration of GG Machan, Media ACT and AAROH.
12. July 8 (Earthquake Relief Project- Sindhuli) We continued our relief program in Sindhuli district V.D.C Majuwa ward no 6 located at the central region of Nepal on 8th July, 2015 where much attention was needed. The communities call upon us and after the need assessment we realized that it needs to be focused. We made a research and data collection of each houses and from there we knew the real scenario and their instant needs. We discovered that almost entire houses were demolished. We distributed the relief materials to 50 households which included package of rice, lentil, wheat, soap, biscuits, sugar, spices, cooking oil, mosquito coil, medicines, chocolates and educational items.

13. July 13 (Earthquake Relief Project- Bhaktapur)

Shree Jagriti Secondary School is a community school founded in 2023 B.S. (1966 A.D.) located at Khauma-15, Bhaktapur. With the motive of creating child friendly environment at school and support the children who lost their home, family in the devastating earthquake we conducted an earthquake relief program in the school on 13th July, 2015. In the program we distributed provisions of basic educational requirements to the students, teachers and school which proved to be of great benefit for the vested need of each related benefactors.

14. September 28 – 30 (Sunaulo Bhawishya Project – Dhading – Phase II)

With the success of the first phase, we eventually started the second phase of the Sunaulo Bhawishya project. Program 2016

1. March 8 ( International Women’s Day)

On the occasion of 106th World’s International Woman’s Day, 2016 booming the slogan “Planet 50-50 by 2030: step it up for Gender Equality”, we, the team of AAROH reached a garment manufacturing Dhaka clothes located at Bishalchowk, Nakhipot, Lalitpur, Nepal, running under the management of a woman named Saru Mangmo Limbu. We were ecstatic to organize this program in supporting women to motivate them in their entrepreneurial skills. “Empowering women means empowering the society and promotion of their entrepreneurship skills will motivate them in their work” was our major motto for the special day.

Saru Limbu feels honored, hoping her story will somehow inspire other women to live their dreams.. Started in 2053 with her own initiation in Dhaka and artistry, without any family support with a desire to support women like her she had lots of struggle.She has been giving love and attention to other underprivileged women in sustaining their own lives and empowering them to fullest. For women who are struggling to live their dreams and are fighting for their rights Saru has three words: “Just do it.” She says “I’m living my truth and living my dream, and I feel so happy I can share that with others. “I hope I can help inspire others. It makes me so happy I want to cry.”

2. March 22 (HOLI – Colors of life)

On the auspicious occasion of Holi, the festival of colors, we visited the autistic (psychologically challenged) children to color their lives with joy of the festival. This program featured fun while learning and was also a platform for us to get a peek into the life of such children, to get to know their abilities, hopes and expectations. Further, this was more of a chance for everybody who was a part of this program to live their childhood one more time, to cherish the moments snatched in enjoying each other’s company and, most importantly, to make the children feel that they are as much of normal humans as anybody else with or without their illness.

3. April 23 (BLOOD DONATION PROGRAM)

Partnering with United for Change Groups, a blood donation program was organized by AAROH with the support of Nepal Red Cross Society we organized a blood donation program.The program took place at Lincoln College Samakhushi – Kathmandu on 23rd April, 2016 where many young volunteers participated and contributed for the blood drive.

4. April 27 – May 2 (Research on “Investigating Information Needs of Earthquake affected communities in Nepal”)

Among our numerous other accomplishments, we at AAROH have also conducted a research project investigating needs of earthquake affected communities in Nepal in the field of Sindhupalchok, Dolakha ,Dhading ,Nuwakot and Rasuwa Nepal. In April of 2016, CEDIM sent a small team of researchers to Nepal. The team visited eight of the most affected districts to conduct further interviews with government officials, police, radio stations, journalists, and local businesses. AAROH conducted and translated the interviews and provided invaluable logistical support.

5. May 8 (Sponsor a Child- Follow up)

“Sponsor a child program” aims to provide needy children by providing life-changing benefits with the help of sponsors. This program is not only about supporting the children, it is an up-to-date process where we manage, monitor, and evaluate progress of our children to track updates. Hence, we conducted our follow up program in Shree Mahakali Primary School on 8th May 2016. In this program we tracked the progress of sponsored child and collected updated data of all the children.

6. July 6 (Sunaulo Bhawishya Project – Dhading- Phase IV)

The main goal of the PHASE IV was to improve the educational quality and motivate the children through the distribution of school uniforms (T-shirt, Trousers & Shoes). The program focused on connecting students to outdoor environment developing a more effective way of quality education. In the program different activities such as children counseling, prize distribution, infrastructure development, documentation, interaction with community member, refreshment program, development of child friendly environment were conducted. 7. 28th August, 2016 (Melodies for Nepal)

Melodies For Nepal is an unplugged Charity Event held on 28th August 2016 at Feltham Community College LONDON. The event was organized by Namas Adventure- A U.K. based association with a motive to support AAROH. All the event proceeds supported the “Sunaulo Bhawishya Project”, while also celebrating AAROH’s international relations.

8. September 1-9 (TRANSPORTATION SURVEY)

AAROH supported in a research project conducted by the Geophysical Institute at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, Germany with the collaboration of Mining Engineering Department at the Middle East Technical University, Turkey. AAROH conducted the survey with a team of experienced enumerator on the issue related to seeking and distributing information about transportation disruptions (blocked roads) due to landslides in Nepal on September of 2016. The survey was conducted in the Kathmandu Valley (Kathmandu, Bhaktapur, Lalitpur) and outside districts (Dhading, Dolakha, Nuwakot, Rasuwa, and Sindhupalchok).

9. September 14 (Happy Faces -National Children’s Day Event)

The 14th of September marks the national Children’s Day whence the country celebrates with joy the love, care and respect it rightfully endows every child with. With the noble intention of bringing joy to the lives of the deprived, we at AAROH were delighted to organize Children’s Day Program on the very day at the Central Zoo with 23 HIV affected children of Baby Life Home Nepal, with the title “Happy Faces”. The program was organized to lighten up children’s’ day in the wild and to bring smiles to their faces and was focused on making the HIV affected children feel accepted by the wider society and to enliven their experience as a child from which they are often deprived. This program featured fun while learning and was also a platform for the organizers to get a peek into the life of such children, to get to know their abilities, hopes and expectations. (supported by Namas adventure) The program was supported by NAMAS ADVENTURE LTD, a U.K. based Association registered in Wales 20 -22 WENLOCK ROAD, LONDON N1 7GU. NAMAS believes that the best way they can contribute to this outstanding cause is by providing a platform for AAROH’s stories to not only be heard, but also lived.

10. September 18 & September 23 (AAROH Cup and New York Chorus Event)

“AAROH CUP 2016” is a sports event held on 18th September 2016 in Queens Bridge, NY. And “New York Chorus event “is a dinner event and musical program which held on 23rd September 2016 at Sunnyside Community Hall, NY, Queens. The events were organized by Yuktah group, a group of individuals putting emphasis on developing and uniting the youth together to be change makers who will undertake activities and able to reflect on how changes affect the different spheres of economic, social and environmental tasks. All the proceeds of the events are utilized in the development of rural schools through our “Sunaulo Bhawishya Project”- Ramechhap.

11. November 9 (Sponsor A Child Project – Dhading, Follow Up)

We were delighted to have the opportunity to one again visit our working district, Dhading, for another follow-up. With a motive to track the progress, to see how the school is functioning and discuss problem with the headmasters and student, AAROH team once again headed to Shree Mahakali Primary School, Dhading on 9th November, 2016. In the follow up program we provided amenities to the sponsored children, received their letters and discussed about their wellbeing. We also conducted an art competition and poem competition where we distributed prizes to the winners.

12. November 19 – 24 (Project Sunaulo Bhawishya -Ramechhap-PHASE III)

Blessed and fortunate to give back smiles and joy to the community again. Our amazing fundraising success of $5000 covered the cost of construction of fence to shield the dangerous school premises while also providing scholarships, helping in infrastructure development and to top it all, we concluded our visit with various co-curricular activities. One more fun filled service to add to the list of did-goods!

13. December 19 – 24 (Project Sunaulo Bhawishya -Dhading-PHASE V)

The Phase V of the Sunaulo Bhawishya Project deemed as successful as anticipated and each activity was heartily accepted by all the students and teachers. This was the result of our planning and effective projection of obstacles which allowed us to efficiently tackle stress and time issues. Further, the combined enthusiasm of the students and the Aaroh Team allowed the project to be effective and fun.

14. December 29 – 30 (Project Solukhumbu)

The outstanding success of the Sunaulo Bhawishya Project in Ramechhap and Dhading highly encouraged us to spread our wings even farther so as to make the future of other deprived and destitute children shine as bright as gold. Indeed, the major objective of this project in essence, as well as its literal translation is carving Golden Future of the helpless, and that is the reason why we expanded our working area and reached Tapting of Solukhumbu district. Our effort to address the need of educational modernization and uplifting the quality of services given by the government schools of the very region took off with research and basic sports activities. This phase was the pilot phase and therefore, its main focus lay in studying the loopholes of services provided to the students as well as the teaching strategies taken up by the teachers to best address the need of every individual student. The activities conducted at Solukhumbu mark the beginning of our Sunaulo Bhawishya Project and its impacts are expected to be as beneficial to the community as did our Ramechhap and Dhading projects. The several phases that shall be conducted subsequently are expected to be easy in carrying out due to the successful rapport built in this first step. Finally, AAROH’s contribution to the development in Sports sector has helped in the recognition of AAROH as an unselfish and people-oriented non-profit.

Program 2017

1. March 8 (Kumbheshwor school, Project Samudyata)

Our newest Project “Samudhyata” targeting the need to engage our interns in self developing activities has been running on full fledge to bring the hidden issues considered as taboos in the society out in the open through healthy discussion and awareness programs. On the 7th of March, 2017, our very first step in running this project took us to Kumbheshwor School where the interns organized an activity day with the small students engaging them in games, music while also gently discussing the issues of health and hygiene.

2. March 8 ( Presentation)

Project Samudhyata was first started for the mutual learning of our interns and us as an organization. The major focus was to cover various schools around the valley and raise awareness on different issues. For this, however, we needed to learn from the experiences of those who have been working in similar manner. Therefore, we invited Mr. Nawang Sherpa who has worked for Teach for Nepal as a fund raising officer. He shared his experiences of the time when he worked as a teacher in rural schools and since we too focus on child education, we had a lot to learn from him.

3. March 8 ( International Women’s Day)

On the 8th of March, 2017, we at AAROH celebrated International Women’s Day to honor those Home- Based Worker women who earn their living while also taking care of their families. Since the buzz of the world today is women contributing actively to national economy, we decided to bring into light the work being done by those women who work actively from their own homes. Women who have mastered the art of tailoring, keeping small shops and the world of beauty by running beauty salons while also helping others learn their skill were given a token of love and their contribution to the nation at large commemorated on this auspicious occasion.

4. 12th March (Holi Program) On the auspicious occasion of Holi on 12th March, 2017, we celebrated the joy of playing with colors enlivening our culture with the children of Disable Society Association. We spent a very purposeful day bringing colors into the dull lives of these children suffering from various forms of disabilities.

5. March 16-18 ( Sunaulo Bhawishya Project – Dhading Phase V part I) The first part of Phase V of Sunaulo Bhawishya Project was conducted to introduce a brief cultural exchange program among the students of Shree Mahakali Primary School and a foreign volunteer. The students were taught new games and easier methods of learning as is practiced in foreign schools whereas the volunteer had the opportunity to learn about the local customs of the village while enjoying the hospitality of the villagers.

6. April 11 (Orientation of Child sexual Abuse Antardristi)

Considered as a taboo in the society, Child Sexual Abuse has been found to be one of the leading social problems of the century that often passes unnoticed. Since the dimension of sexual abuse is wide and often repressed from public discussions, most people hardly notice when their children are being victimized. Further, parents have been seen to refrain from informing their children about any topic containing the mention of sex. Therefore, under Project Samudhyata, we decided to pair with Antardristi Nepal that works for the issues of Child Sexual Abuse and give orientation to our interns who would then work to spread awareness on this issue while at village.

7. April 25 (Presentation by Anita Bista) The most significant change agents in any community are the local social workers who work voluntarily to implement the rules of law and to help those in need. Ms. Anita Bista is one such kindered soul who has been working voluntarily in Sanepa to facilitate adult learning classes, local health campaigns and so on. Being a social service organization, her experiences were very fulfilling and her company proved to be of great benefit to us in learning the reality of society.

8. June 25 (Sunaulo Bhawishya documentation and follow-up of Sponsor a Child Project) In collaboration with “Windhorse Rising”an NGO founded on the basis of bringing real help to those who truly need it. “Windhorse is the powerful spirit inside all of us capable of incredible power, hope and compassion. When we raise Windhorse we are evoking that power, allowing it to grow infinitely to help all beings.” Through renewable resources, training and education, but direct and necessary aid we will bring stability and support, but most importantly hope – back to those who need it most. Together AAROH & WINDHORSE prepared a picture documentary and web portal through which the visitors will prepare a crowd-funding event thereby helping organize better programs for the students.

9. July 15 (Blood Donation Program) On the 15th of July, 2017, we at AAROH collaborated with the Emukhel Sanrakshyan Samiti of Sankhu and Red Cross Society of Balkumari to conduct a Blood Donation Prpgram at Emukhel Children’s Park. This program was highly successful with 60 people turning in out of whom 55 people were deemed capable to donate blood despite our expected donors being just 50. Besides, this program also allowed us to understand how best to conduct better programs. After all, every event should come in with its own new learning.

10. November 14 (Support to Bhumesthan Children) Our mission is to ensure that every child is prepared to learn & succeed in the classroom by providing school supplies to kids most in need. We are thankful to Nepal Lion’s Cooperative Multipurpose, Tripureshor for supporting kids in our “sponsor child program” in which our kids will receive basic necessities for education- books, school uniforms, tuition fees and also financial and moral support throughout the year.

11. December 24 (Support to sponsor child project)

Sometimes the least we can do brings about a rippling effect in someone’s life. The feeling of being part of a child’s education and learning process is simply overwhelming.

Our sponsorship program gives children the opportunity to learn and explore their talents. With your ongoing commitment of Rs 15.000 ($ 150) per year, your sponsored child will receive basic necessities for education- books, school uniforms, tuition fees and also financial and moral support throughout the year.

On the 29th of January, 2018, we celebrated our four years anniversary at “Shree Mahakali Primary School” with our students engaging them in games, music, refreshments, training them basic health and hygiene, while also providing winter uniforms.

2. March 7 (Farewell, Project Golden Future,  Ramechhap/Doramba) 

After the completion of our project GOLDEN FUTURE in “Shree Buddhodaya Primary School” time comes when we have to say good bye to our little family with a heavy heart wishing everyone great life ahead.

We completed eight PHASES !

  1. PHASE I – Research.
  2.  PHASE II – Capacity building programs of the teachers by training them about the teaching methodology.
  3.  PHASE III- Awareness about education in the community.
  4.  PHASE IV – Establishing Moral science as a main model.
  5. PHASE V – Improvising whether the progress of the school is well maintained and developing a more effective way of quality education.
  6.  PHASE VI – Construction and fencing.
  7.  PHASE VII – Standard school and advanced learning.
  8. PHASE VIII –
    Qualified teachers.
    Motivated students and a child friendly environment.
    Positive community attitude towards school.

3. April 15-17 (Introduction of E-Learning) 

Children cannot be effective in tomorrow’s world if they are trained in yesterday’s skills. Technology has revolutionised the way we work and is now set to transform education. Nor should teachers be denied the tools that other professionals take for granted.

This is our small attempt to introduce technology. We provided computer, printer and necessary peripherals to “Shree Mahakali Primary School.” A computer workshop was conducted for three days to enhance professional development of teachers.

4. June 19 (Sponsor a child project) 

We would like to thank Leticia Kok Yen (KUK family) for the support they have given to our children.
We also want to take a moment to thank “Windhorse Rising”(Andrea Drewer and Tokpa Korlo) for all the support they have shown in our program. Creating education network is a necessity and they were here who collaborated with us in 2017 and what a huge effort it took to make this program so great.

 

5. August (3-7) (AAROH and NAMAS, volunteer project)

6. October (26-28) (Visit to Marienschule, Saarbruecken) 

We conducted a fundraising event in Marienschule; a beautiful educational in Saarbruecken Germany  which have been supporting AAROH and admiring our work for many years. The three day event name was “Nepal Bazaar” that promoted Nepalese handicrafts with eco-friendly and sustainable Nepali items such as bags, note-books, scarves, pencils, felt and woolen items.

President Prasha Lama conducted talks and presentation regarding AAROH projects in each classrooms grade (5-12). The event was very productive.

7. December 9  (Distribution of uniforms) 

As a part of our Golden Future project in “Shree Mahakali Primary School”  we provided warm uniforms to our students. Our team efficiently conducted various entertaining and interactive games and also documentation and previous phase feedback were conducted.

8. December 20  (Introduction of Golden Future) 

We conducted the first phase of the Golden Future Project at Kavre with the main motive of research and to improve the educational quality by maintaining a child-friendly environment. Our team efficiently conducted various entertaining and interactive games, distribution of uniforms, documentation and household surveys. The project has begun its first phase and still many phases to accomplish until we make it sustainable.

For the poor, in rural areas their pre-occupation is earning of livelihood and all other activities are given second importance. In this context the project will focus on children in need with particular emphasis on economically poor background by providing educational opportunities. The project will simultaneously organize activities for providing sustainable livelihood of their families and other empowerment opportunities to the concerned mothers of the said children.

Program 2019

1. January 29 (Celebrating 5th Anniversary,)

On the 29th of January, 2019, we celebrated our five years anniversary with 23 HIV affected children of Baby Life Home Nepal. Our volunteers engaged them in games, music, refreshments, while also providing gifts. The program was organized to lighten up and to bring smiles to their faces and was focused  to enliven their experience as a child from which they are often deprived.

2. February 14 (Valentine; Love for all)

Team AAROH visited Mahakali school to share in the February love ! Numbering over a 120 students in “Shree Mahakali Primary School” Team AAROH and one our campaigner, Mr. Ducy, donated assorted food items and stationaries to the school. They travelled across local bus from Kathmandu to Shimle- Dhading and four hours hike to reach the school.

Mr. Ducy said: “As February 14 is celebrated across the country with many people exchanging cards, candy, gifts or flowers with their special Valentine, we at AAROH are committed to giving back to the society specifically to aid the less privileged.”

3. February 20 (PLANET LOCAL visit to school)

I feel very fortunate to be in a position where I have the time and resources to help others and I wanted to make a contribution and find more ways to help people says “Irma Leung” the co-founder of Planetlocal. (https://planetlocal.co)

The program was supported by Planetlocal, a Hong Kong based artisan company that aims at supporting local artists, making incremental changes and delivering demonstrable benefits for entire communities. The company has been supporting many charities and working effortlessly to uplift their lives.

Planetlocal supported “AAROH-Child Sponsorship” program and intends to support our future projects. In addition to having child sponsorship Irma made a school trip where she donated assorted food items and gifts to the 110 students of the school.

4. April 23 (BUILDING PLAYGROUND- PHASE 1)

I am happy to see progress coming along so quickly on this playground said “Faresh Humagain”- the field supervisor of AAROH. The preschool will be updated in three phase for the playground.

When talking to Faresh about how all of this work would get done, he told that some community members have helped. It’s been six days of work measuring, digging holes for posts, shoveling gravel and sand and some women that had been sitting around the pre school stepped up to help dig out the mud pit, this was a very telling moment.

5. May 5 (NEW BEGINNINGS)

Our kids got promoted to new positions.
New beginnings are exciting because they offer the promise of hope, the anticipation of change in their lives, and the prospect that dreams will indeed come true !
